Euro Offroad Series Announced

Posted on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 | in News | 2 Comments

The organizers of the hugely popular “Euro Touring Series” have announced that they will be bringing their concept off-road with the creation of the ‘Euro Offroad Series’. Catering for 1:10 electric off-road classes, the EOS is the result of 12-months of lobbying by a number of top off-road racers to get ETS founders Uwe Rheinard and Scotty Ernst to bring the profile and fun element of their electric touring car series to 1:10 off-road, a category which is currently enjoying a strong resurgence in Europe. Good for them!

Europe also hosts the 1:10 Off Road World Championships this year, so the EOS will kick off with a 3-day pilot event in Sweden at the beginning of April before the staging of a multi round series scheduled to begin next October. Europe’s top drivers have been quick to get behind the first EOS race, which will run on an indoor clay track, with current European Champion Lee Martin, former champions Marc Rheinard, Hupo Honigl & Jorn Neumann, last weekend’s Petit RC race winner Paul Bradby along with Swedish stars Viktor Wilck and David Ronnefalk already confirming they will travel to Tomelilla for the April 1-3 event. Sounds like it will be a pretty exciting and entertaining event with names like that.

1:10 2WD & 4WD Buggy along with 2WD Short Course Truck will make up the ‘Euro Offroad Series’ program with full details of the race format, rules and information on traveling to the Sweden to be announced over the coming days.

Jesse Robbers Continues with Team HB

HB and HPI have proudly announced that 1/8th buggy Worlds A-Finalist and consistent top runner Jesse Robbers has extended his contract with HB. Here is what he had to say:

“I will continue to race for HB throughout the 2011 racing season. I started racing for HB at the beginning of 2008 and the past few years have been very good for the both of us. I feel the platform of cars and tyires HB offers has been a key factor that has, and continues, to help me improve my results on a consistent basis. The cars are very durable, easy to drive, and fast all while being offered at a low price. The tyres have great performance while outlasting other brand tires. From the beginning HB has been very open to accepting me into their company and has allowed me additional responsibilities which continue to prove beneficial for us. I look forward to continuing the awesome relationship HB and I have and also I to the great things to come in 2011 from HB. I do not plan to change any of my other sponsors and I will continue to use O.S. Speed Engines, Sidewinder Fuel, KO Propo radio and servos, HB Tyires, HPI Racing, and Avid R/C.

“I would like to thank some Hot Bodies/HPI people directly for the help and teamwork they have been a part of. Thank you Tatsuro-san, Hara-san, Miura-san, Hiro-san, Josh Alton, and the whole Tessman family (including Squirt).”

Jesse and Ty Tessman have both been a great addition to the HB crew and a fantastic partner for Atsushi Hara so HB is happy to have them back.

JConcepts Stampede 4×4 Ford Raptor Super Crew

Posted on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 | in News | No Comments

JConcepts, who has really been coming out with some cool stuff lately, has reached new ground with the Ford Raptor SVT Super Crew Stampede 4×4 body. I really like the look of this body – it’s sleek and tough at the same time and made especially for one of my favorites – the Traxxas electric Stampede 4×4. The Raptor SVT – F-150 body by JConcepts,  begins with the latest in 1:1 truck detail by incorporating the latest treatment in grill and headlight design with pronounced bumper, adding street appeal. Front and rear fender flares provide a detailed look while maintaining that exclusive design.

Here are some of the other features:

* Officially licensed by Ford to JConcepts
* Scale inspired body, cab and window design
* 1:1 headlight and grill treatment with pronounced front bumper
* Front and rear fender flares for maximum realism
* Super Crew cab with recessed windows
* Clear heavy-duty polycarbonate with protective film
* Window masks and detailed Ford Raptor SVT decal sheet
