The Winter Midwest Electric Championships is one of the longest-running and most popular races in the country for electric 1:10 offroad racing. It took place in Jeffersonville, OH on Jan. 15th and 16th. It was hosted by the CRCRC club at the Ohio RC Factory and their were over 400 entries! This event is now in its 24th year running the event is as popular as ever.

Team Associated drivers Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield battled it out for the top qualifying position in the Truck Modified class with their Factory Team T4.1 trucks. In the end it was Cavalieri edging out Maifield for the top qualifying honors. With the grid set, the two drivers battled it out in A1 and A2 with each gaining a victory and setting the stage for a winner-take-all showdown in A3. Cavalieri jumped out to a quick lead in the final main event and an untimely bobble by Maifield gave Cavalieri all the cushion he needed to pilot his T4.1 to the winner’s circle.

JConcepts Illuzion 1979 Ford Ranger F-250 body

Officially licensed by Ford, JConcepts introduces the 1979 Ford F-250 Ranger SCT body. This thing is old school but pretty cool looking if you’re into older model cars – from a time when a truck was pretty much just a truck – with no frills or luxury. So, this body fits the Fits Traxxas Slash, Traxxas Slash 4×4, Team Associated SC10 and other similar Short Course Truck’s.

JConcepts Body

Built as they were in the good ole days, JConcepts has brought an essence of the 1979 truck together with the latest offerings in competitive Short Course Racing. With detailed 70’s styling, the hood scoop immediately is a standout retro feature which lends itself to the grill, fender and authentic 70’s cab styling. JConcepts left no detail untouched on bringing this old / new theme to the SCT crowd and most notably the rear roll bars and front to back horizontal body lines that give the “79” unmatched SCT realism.

Now just because this is an old model body doesn’t mean it lacks anything in performance. The 1979 stance has been optimized utilizing dimensional aspects of the other popular JConcepts bodies, the Manta and Raptor SVT.I don’t know if it’s my style but you’ll definitely be unique at the track with this Ford tough bod. Let us know what you think!

Features:

· Fits Slash, Slash 4×4, SC10 and other similar SCT’s
· Officially licensed by Ford to JConcepts
· 1979 scale inspired body, cab and window design
· 1:1 headlight and grill treatment with pronounced rear roll bar
· Front and rear fender flares for maximum realism
· Standard cab with recessed windows
· Clear heavy-duty polycarbonate with protective film
· Window masks and detailed 1979 Ford F-250 decal sheet

Ryan Lopez joins Team Losi Racing

Former Xray driver Ryan Lopez will be joining Team Losi Racing to race their 8ight buggy for 2011. Ryan had this to say:

“I am very excited about my new opportunity with TLR. Team losi is well known for having some of the best and fastest cars on the market and I am looking forward to representing there company for a long time to come. I want to say thanks to Ralph Burch and Mr Hudy for all the great support I have gotten the past five years with Xray. They have helped me get where I am today and I appreciate everything they have done for me. I also would like thank Byron’s fuels and Vp-pro-usa for the support the past few years. Both are great companies with even better people.”

He sounds excited to make the move and I’m sure TLR is just as excited to have signed him. From what I know, I don’t think he has won any major events, but seems like a consistent racer. We will just have to see as he joins Losi in 2011.
