It seems like everyone is talking about the new Traxxas release of the Monster Jam series and hardly any of it is good. A brief look around the forums these days and they are filled with flat out Traxxas hate. Now I haven’t been in the game long enough to really get too mad about all the Traxxas re-releases. Just so you know I am no Traxxas “fan boy”, and certainly no Traxxas hater my garage carries everything including Traxxas, Axial, Team Associated, Losi, and much more.
Reasons Not To Be Let Down By Traxxas Monster Jam Series
Reason #1 Traxxas can do what they want! They have no obligation to release totally new platforms.
Reason #2 You Don’t have to buy it! Sure I would love to see Traxxas come out with some 1/8 scale stuff, or more interesting products like the Summit but hey, people are buying the stuff so what can we say? If we want them to up their game then we have to stop buying their stuff.
Reason #3 This is nothing new for Traxxas, why does it seem like every single time Traxxas does this it’s like the first time? Traxxas, and other RC makers have been doing this for years and we really cannot expect that to change.
Reason #4 The Traxxas Monster Jam series is actually a cool concept. Sure it’s not exactly targeted towards hardcore RC folks but for the price point, it opens up the market a little more. It’s a more comfortable step up from department store RC’s for parents to get their kids a nice RC and the Traxxas Monster Jam series is pretty cool for fans of the actual Monster Trucks like me.
The new release from Traxxas their Monster Jam replica RC trucks needs really no review. The technology isn’t really any different than a lot of their other electric RC trucks. You can read the full breakdown here on their website. It comes ready to run and fully waterproof like the typical release from traxxes. The motor is brushed but has all the internal tech to upgrade to brushless when you are ready. Of course depending on what your using it for you may be ready day one.
I have to give it up to Traxxas on their design work on these monster trucks, they look about as real as I can remember seeing these trucks in real life. The only drawback is they look so good, I would hate to wreck them. I can’t say for sure if I am going to get one or not, if I do it will be just for looks and video shoots. I wouldn’t want it all roughed up like a lot of my other Traxxas stuff. I would for sure have to order another body for it that I could keep in good shape.
We started a thread over in our forum to talk more about the Traxxas Monster Jam replica’s and if you want to chat more about them thats a great spot to do it. Follow the link to our Traxxas Monster Jam Forum thread.
