on a cuple of my NiMH batteries the plastic is spliting or in one case the plastic is chipping. the batteries are some what new. is there anything i can do to the batterys or rerap them in something or anything like that?

U can use electric tape or buy some shrink wrap from your LHS

Go to your local hobby shop and see if they have shrink wrap. you will need a heat gun to shrink it though. that or a hair dryer may work.
i use electrical tape, but it does make them heat up quicker
