The battery is not connected to the engines in anyway. The engines have stators (generators) that create electricity when you pull on the pull start rope.

Kinda sorta! Same thing works in a car, unless you have a diesel where you have no spark plugs only glow plugs. Its kinda like a "wire" that run to the spark plug creating the sparks
