Caster EX1.5

I'm a little torn between buying something "cheap" for him which would need some upgrades/replacements or just spending the money up front and getting him an ECO like mine. You seem to have broken a lot of parts on your Castle and even the way I drive (badly) the ECO has not needed a single part replaced and drives great right out of the box. There's also the advantage of being able to share spare parts if needed..

It's up to you man All I have broken is 2 front arms... (diff pinion was my fault) and for 4-6 months use, that's pretty sick as far as i'm concerned!

I can't remember anything else off the top of my head anyway!

tbh, if I were to go back, and buy again with the knowledge I have now gained from owning the caster. Either get an ECO or get the EX1.5R Pro, this will last much longer than the RTR, it's got all of the hardened and lightened peices you will need and will be just as good as the mugen.

Either way, your son will be very happy with the performance of the kit you choose. personally, if money wasn't and important factor and I had a load of it to spend, i'd get the eco, because of my LHS stocks the parts in store, (caster's come in next day on order which is excellent too). and I light the motor mount on the eco, but i will soon be getting one of those similar for my caster

Local Hobby store isn't a factor for me, we have 2-3 here and they all suck so I have to order everything I need from the Us myself anyway.

I know you're right about the ECO but money is always an important factor, I just need to make the logical choice (which is the ECO for a lot of reasons) and not flake out and buy a $200 el cheapo (or somewhere in between, which would be the Caster).

I can't find the EX1.5 Pro anywhere from my usual online stores, where are they hiding them?

Take a look at this bashing video I made a while ago... The buggy takes hit after hit near the end and doesn't break! Until I hit the brakes too early and snap an arm

Got the buggy up and running again! Runs awesome I have to admit!

Thanks Pete, the gears were a little tight so I broke them in for a little while going less than 1/2 throttle and they were fine after that.

The buggy's performance has drastically improved with the added carbon upper deck, and now I'm using both battery trays!

First I burnt through a pack of Team Orion 3800mah 30c packs... They were great and gave about the same amount of power and top end out as the big bad-ass 4s turnigy I was first using. When those packs ran dry, I put in the big boys... 5300mah 30-60c 2x 2s Turnigy Nano-tech packs. What a difference! They had so much more punch and allot more top end. Very pleased with those packs, they also didn't get as warm.

Definitely a keeper now i've got everything sorted out. It's one tough buggy, it did some tumblin' today!

After a near disaster at the track yesterday I've been looking in to butane soldering irons, have you had a chance to try your out yet?

Absolutely, it's a really decent iron! Very high quality tips. And can get super hot if you need it but allow to solder on minimal gas setting
