Why not just buy 2 2S Lipo packs from Hobbyking? You can get them for about 30 a piece. But I wouldn't think you could split them in half. The cells are all connected to one wire that gives you the power output.
Hey,
I have recently bought a 1/8 EP buggy which has dual battery trays.
I decided to go with a single 4s pack since It would make it easier for me in the long run.
Since running the buggy with the single 4s pack, I have come to notice that the CG is far too high. So high that the buggy is rolling left and right.
I have reasons to beleive this is because the trays are located as far back as possible but despite that. I wan't to know, would it be possible to split my 4s lipo, into x2 2s's?
and If so how would I go about doing this?
Any help is much appreciated as i'm not too experienced with them, as ive not had to do anything like this before. and really dont have the money to waste on more packs.
Lipo is: Turnigy 4s 5000mah 30c soft cased.
I don't really want to have a 4s sitting around doing nothing and have to buy a few sets of 2s's. I would just really like to spread the weight out more, and lower it
Thanks

well it is possible but it would be very difficult lots of soldering and there are lots and lots of places you could go wrong and short the battery... unless you are extremely experienced with electronics i wouldnt try it. i would try and sell the pack. or glue some lead weights to gether and put the in the other tray that = the same as the pack so the buggy isnt unbalanced. (dont glue the weights down just strap them im

If it's possible, and I get the basic idea of how to do it, they I will be able to, I just need to know what exactly i have to do.
Im pretty good with soldering so that shouldnt be a problem..
I could sell it, and just save the hassle and buy the dual 2s's.
Its not so much the weight balance... its the weight being up high... thats the problem... putting weight on the other side wouldnt fix the problem... if that was the case I would buy another 4 cell and run them together to double my run time.

hobbyking is in china.
you can do it you just have to be super careful if you short a cell out just for a millisecond it can ruin it or cause it to puff/possibly catch fire or explode
i have removed a cell, 3s to a 2s
you will have to do a lot of work, battery shrink wrap, new balanceing plugs, wire, etc
you might be better off selling it.
but if you are determined i can get you a sketch of a 2s setup

hobbyking is china. I definitely would not try splitting a pack unless you are 110% sure of what you are doing. That being said, in order to do it you will need:
A soldering iron (a high quality one)
A desoldering braid
Solder
Shrink wrap
A heat gun
balancing taps
Use this site for reference on soldering the pack together.
