I want to take my buggy to a new level - Tekin OR Castle motor?

Help!


I'm currently deciding on whether I should upgrade my motor for my 1/8 buggy or not.

Going with either a tekin motor (around 2000kv, slightly lower or no higher than the 2050kv) or the castle 2650kv, since the 2200kv doesn't fit in my buggy.

What do you guys think?

which one should I get? and why...

I will be running on 4s lipo, won't need insane speed, minor bashing mostly racing, trying to keep temps low and stable, along with long runtimes

Tekin is a really good combo and so is castle. I like castle because there reliable and cheaper. But here why tekin is loved and valued so much to racers. Because there sensored or sensorless making them much more smooth. Also Tekings dont clog off throttle like castle. Clogging the the magnet grabbing inside the can trying to in a sense worke as brakes on a car slowing without touching brke though. The tekin off throttle is free and coast alot more smoother. I still take caslte over it because the tunning at the track is so much easier and there one of the most reliable systems on the market today. The mambas also can take abuse over tekin more. Tekins get tempermental if over heated and a mamba will run but its impotant to temp them and run safe gearing. I never let my esc or motor top 200 degrees f. Thats scary to me. some say 220 like a engine on nitro is fine but i disagree.

Personally I'd go tekin but that's just me. I love how smooth and efficient it is. I have had plenty of castle systems in my day though and have NOTHING bad to say about them. Cheaper than tekin and very reliable.

Yes tekin is way smoother but not really a need. But its nice.

Interesting you brought up the temps there, as my next question was going to be which one would stay cooler would you say...

The only thing thats putting me off castle for ther motor, is the really high kv, I only need 2050kv if that!

any suggestions?

the castle 2650 is probably too much for the buggy. i would go with the tekin 2050kv.

Ok, well first I think I will play with the gearing of my current motor, as the only reason I want a new motor is to lower temps considerably. So I may go down 2 teeth on the pinion and see the results from that

How big is your track? normaly i would say go for the cheaper option but if you gonna be mostly racing it, go with the tekin combo. But if your gonna be racing at a larger track with big jumps, go with the Castle combo. The Mamaba monster setup is more explosive off the line and Gives you better runtime and top speed due to not having a sensor but throttle response isn't as smooth or quick as the Tekin combo. The castle combo is still a really good option though. Many people at my local track use it to race and they do very well.

I use Tekin and I LOVE IT no problems with it yet. When I used castle the esc had some electronical problems. I would say go Tekin
