Protecting Motor Servos ESC?
So I've done a bit of reading lately and have decided that in the next few weeks I'll be buying a Brushless E-Revo.
I was just wondering if anyone bothers using roll cages in their cars to protect the internal components?
I was looking at something like this:RC+157 RC Solutions Roll Cage E-Revo
or this: VGRacing / Roll Cage City Photo Gallery - Traxxas® Mini E-Revo Roll Cage/RED1
So far the pros and cons I've got are;
Pros:
- less likely to break/damage the motor, esc and servos when/if you flip your car.
Cons:
- added weight.
- getting plastic bodies fit over roll cages
I don't think they're too heavy though..
I was also looking at getting one of the outerwears rc car covers: TRAXXAS E-REVO & (BRUSHLESS EDITION) SHROUD W/VELCRO CLOSURE 20-2644 - Outerwears, Inc. - Original manufacturer of Pre-Filters & Shockwears
Does anyone use these? Again there are a few things that I'm curious about:
- Heat on the motor?
- Weight? (not so much, I couldn't imagine it making a big difference..)
