Rustler and Rustler VXL question. ?

I have a rustler and a rustler VXL. Yesterday I crashed it into a parked car and broke about everthing on it. So I thought, I would take our my 18T pinion,esc,motor,wheels, and reciever. Is there any difference between the two, other than the the things I am putting into my rustler? Same Spur and all that?

I'm thinking of putting those into my rusty and making that the vxl and taking the burned up esc and stuff and putting that in the true vxl
