Ezrun 9t motor getting very hot

Hi there, i have an ezrun 9t 35a setup in my car, running off a 5100mah nimh. I have noticed the motor getting significantly hot after a few minutes of playtime. i cant hold on to it for more than 2 seconds. I am currently running on a 23 pinion and 83 spur, 48 pitch. I think i have the gear mesh right as the local hobby store set it for me. I have read other threads and i think i need to gear down on the pinion. but how many teeth?? im a newbie and im not too sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated... :D :D :D

What brand and what model? But it is your gearing. If you run offroad that gearing is way to high. Try 19/86.

Im using my car for drifting and touring... what pinion would be suitable for the 83 spur?

Experiment with different sizes. Try 16/83 and it should be fine.

go with a 90t spur and a 16t pinion 48p
your only supposed to use that gearing if your only doing speed runs
thats why your motor is running so hot

are you use the motor heat sink on the motor?
i think it can resolve the problem.
