Brushless Confusion
I'm a bit confused about brushless motors. I'm just not sure how to determine their power output. The Traxxas Velineon motor that comes on the Rustler VXL is a 3500. But the Associated RC8.2E RS RTR buggy has a 2000 KV brushless motor. Which is more powerful ?

I had that same question and then i look on google and a website said:
heres the run down:
High KV:
huge amp draw
has to be geared down so you loose revs
have to be a HAWK on temps so it doesn't overheat
sucks packs down really quick
it is extreeeemly fast though
Low KV:
lower amp draw
you can gear up and keep temps down
don't have to be a hawk on the temps
keeps packs running nice and long
it is slower than the higher KV systems but torque can be insane
so like your question, the RC8.2E RS has a more powerful motor because it has a lower kv rating. But the rustler would be faster off the line and top end. But thats why on the Losi micro series, the micro brushless motor is 9000kv to 10500kv. And like on the HPI Baja series converted to electric needs to use the big 1717kv and 1515kv motors. Because a 4000-5000 kv motor cant push the big 35 pound baja cars without breaking or getting hot. So in theory the bigger the car, the smaller the kv rating can be, and the smaller the car, the larger the kv rating can be. sorry about the legnth but its best to put all the info out at once so its easier to understand.

Thank you for the info. I think I understand the whole brushless thing a little better now.

your welcome, its always fun to help a fellow RCer

Also have to look at motor size. The Rc8's motor is much longer and has a larger diameter so It can handle more current while at the same time, providing alot more torque so you can gear much taller.

Use a GIXR 3.3.19334239302 brushless motor. Itll work for just about any RC car and last about 3 times longer then any other motor.

what does it look like. i couldnt find it on google images.

its an old capacitor invented by the U.S. Government made back in the late 80s in Area 51. They had built this super capacitor to use on RC cars for recon missions. Now its for sale on the black market at a good price of 2,000$. Not to bad for this super capacitor
