traxxas battery help

hi i have a traxxas 4x4 rtr im using the stock 7s nimh battery and its overheating im running the stock geering and im running on a backyard track if anyone has a fix I would be thankfull

if your running offroad with the stock gearing then the pinon gear is to high because your supposed to have 15t or below but that shouldn't affect the battery
but are you running it right after you finish charging it?

Going full throttle from starts and sudden braking can cause the motor to heat up faster, but with NiMH you must stay on the stock gearing unless you want overheating problems. You are running the stock 13t gearing right?
