Check your manual, i think your esc is probably in race mode which eliminates reverse, check your manual to see how to put it in sport mode.
I found this after not finding my manual:
Don't know where you guys are getting your info - the SC15 ESC *is* programmable.
For the first ~2s of EVERY poweron it goes into programming mode = the LED blinks green & red.
Move your trigger Full Fwd then Full Brake within this time and it will memorise those settings
then makes a soft chime; the motor will not run during the programming.
It does it EVERY poweron, so be careful if your TX is being held by anyone fingering the trigger inadvertently.
Only if the throttle remains @ neutral for the 1st 2s then it'll just reuse its last-set programming settings.

I would try to youtube a how to video
turn on your transmitter then turn on your truck while holding full foward on your transmitter and watch your truck to see if the lights on the esc blink. Then if the esc does something, go into full reverse. that how you program most esc's (also i would do this with the truck off the ground or the motor disconnected just in case.)
I'm beginning to think my ESC is just screwed up. I tried what you said to no avail.
thats what happen to me. The esc is not programable. The esc just ran hot for a run that has the disable feature gone. if you run a lipo then this is a very probable possibilty. Ive had year of experince with this esc. I had just water proofed one today with hot glue
