I owned an Nitro RC car kit "Cyclone" for my first season of 1/8th scale racing and that buggy is about as tough as they come, and fast!!! The 3.0cc engine that comes in that buggy will give you more than enough power to compete with the high dollar race engines, provided that your track allows engine rules to be broken on RTR buggies. IMO, that buggy will give you a good taste of 1/8th scale racing, and it will keep you on the track enough to get some experience. Then, as your skills and budget allow, you might think about a higher end racing specific buggy.
