i am personally a fan of the big red but you have to protect it and service it alot more

First, what Savage is it? Out of those 2, get the .28, the 3.3 is a small block (.20) sized engine. You could also look at the LRP engines, their .28, .30, or .32 would all do great in the Savage. The Losi 454 is a rebadged LRP .28 with a different carb, and you can get the 454 for cheap on Ebay.

I have a revo with the trx 3.3 and a t-maxx with a serrio. 28 big block... after tuning the big block the 3.3 will still
take it. Alot of that is the fact that the t-maxx wont stay planted. I love my 3.3 tho its a superb engine!
