well it depends how long you want to spend on itIf you are looking for a hard answer maybe 3-4 hours? Thats how long it would take me, however my partner Allan, providing he was uninterrupted I am guessing it takes him maybe 2 hours.
How long does it take would you say to get the thing all put together and what motor and esc would you recommend?

Like Jeremy says, it'll come down to how good you are with your hands. It's mostly assembled out of the box so it shouldn't take too much to get it finished. It comes with an unpainted body so I'm going to guess the paint job will take the longest unless you are doing a simple paint scheme.
as for the ESC/motor...I spent a couple weeks specing out a Jammin' and the ESC/Motor I chose was the Novak Havoc Pro SC Brushless ESC/Ballistic 550 Motor - mostly because of the larger 550 motor with the larger shaft...I mean, why not?!!
After considering I'd need new tires/body I went with the Blitz ESE for now...I so badly want a 4x4 too though so one day..
I reccomend you watching these videos. It should give you all the answers to your questions. I have been watching videos on the jammin and it is one bad 4X4 Short Course trucks. It is what I would reccomend for 4X4.

Yeah those are great Vids. Squirrel rocks when it comes to the good info. I just grabbed a SCRT-10 and I put a new Sidewinder SCT system in it. Sadly I have not ran it yet. Been too cold out.

I have an update for jammin scrt10 rtr. The kit comes with alum. threaded shocks and the rtr does not. they are platic body with these shims of different thickness u pop over shock body like a e clip, They suck! so your first upgrade is new shocks, and that ruins the so called value of rtr compared to the kit.The second upgrade is a brushless ecs and motor,Which is a big step up with this truck. It is awesome w/Leopard 60amp ecs and 12T 3300kv motor w/ 2cell lipo.(I have a 3cell on the way.) That should be krazy. And to tell the truth I would have liked to painted the body different and with the kit u can.lets not forget the tires and wheels, they are glued in rtr, with kit they aren't. So u can study what tires are workin at ur local track and glue those to the wheels. In the end I think The kit would a better buy.
if you have ever done any work on shocks before then i wouldnt say any longer then 2hrs but if this is ur first time eber dealing with an rc i would say maybe 4hr..... but its really if your good with ur hands or not
