Traxxas X-01 Exclusive Thread

Alright guys, we have it, yes the Traxxas X-01 is now in our studio and we know there are going to be a lot of opinions, questions and comments, lets post them here!

i have one. Can you guys drive without the stock radio and put in your own and see if that bypass the restricted 50mph speed without the app to unlock the mad beast speed?

1. Is it a useable car outside of high speed runs - meaning how does it handle?
2. Is it worth the money?
3. Did you buy it or get it free from Traxxas?
4. The post above is a great question.
5. Would you rather have an HPI Baja?

yes we are pretty certain you can use a standard remote

it handles fine, it's very usable out of the box but really meant for at least 50mph

Very great question, I'd rather be running a DX3R with full adjustments with my $1500 machine then the stock radio, that and not everyone has an apple device.....

here is what we have found, were taking about the remote now to try to mod it to work with android but the answers to some common questions.

1-do you have to sign a waiver-yes
2.do you have to give them a DL number-yes
3.Can you bypass the ipod easily-it seems to be proprietary into the esc, without a custom esc flash I am not seeing an easy way.

That's a bit unfortunate, locked into a Traxxas Apple mash. Stuck with the not so great as it could be Traxxas radio that only takes Apple devices. I think it would be better just to spend the same amount of money, if not less, on a custom 100mph. It's been done many times. Mostly heavily modded Touring Cars or 1/8 buggies.
