Mamba Monster Low Voltage Cutoff

On the MM software it has a Lipo voltage cutoff option you can set it to. I read the manual and it says 9V is a must use for 3 cell lipos. If it cuts off at that, I wouldn't be getting much runtime. I think you not supposed to get it under 3V but someone educate me here. Maybe it's for both batteries? 22.2v = 9v divided by two batteries = 4.5v I don't know. What should I set it to?

Lipos are not susposed to get below 3v/ cell meaning if you have a 3s lipo, then the pack isn't susposed to be bellow 9v. You will still get plenty of runtime cause the voltage in a lipo pack doesnt really go down until near the very end of its charge; that is one of the biggest benefits of lipo cells.

If you are running 6s then you would do 6cells*3V=18 volt cuttoff. You will still get more runtime than you would out of a Nihm pack because a lipo pack has more current so the system doesn't have to work as hard.

Think of it like this:
Top Gear sent a Toyota Prius around a race track as fast as it could with a BMW M3 but the BMW only had to keep up. The Prius got 18mpg around the track while the BMW got 20 because the BMW had extra power on tap so it was running 100%. Lipos are the same way, since they have more current, or power, than Nimhs, they are more efficient and have longer runtimes.

So what option should I set it to? 9v?

if you use the castle link software u can set what the cut off is per cell. so on my mamba i set it to like 3.2 PER cell.

For 3s? It should have a feature for Auto lipo where it would detect the number of lipo cells then you would set the volts/cell. If it has it i would set it to that at like 3.2 volts per cell. If not then a little over 9v should suffice. If you set it to auto lipo, make sure you listen to the esc when it starts up. It will beep once for every cell so you should hear 3 beeps when running 3s.

I say over 9 because your pack may become out of balance while running and one cell my dip below 3 volts before the entire pack hits the 9 volt cuttoff.

I'm running two 3 cell lipos, it has the Auto Lipo setting so I should set it to 3.2v/ I'm lost lol

Ok, thanks for the info. I don't want to mess anything up because I've been waiting 4 months to get this Revo running. My last batteries got fried from this charger this guy sold us. He said oh you don't need a balancer and one of the cells tested at 0.2v... So I bought another Charger and I bought some Turnigy 3s 20-30C lipos that comes with a lipo bag.

if you ever get more lipos check out gens ace. they are really good. i like my turnigys a lot and they are great too. but gens ace are better.

I have another question though. Why not set it to 3.3v or 3.4v so it's not so close to 3 volts because if I mess these batteries up... What will happen? Shorter runtime?
