Stampede 4x4 spur gear problem

I have a stampede 4x4 i tightned the slipper all the way and backed it out about 1/7 of a turn i ran it on. 3s pack 2 times before all the gears stripped out did i have the slipper to tight? if so whats the pratical or stock setting for a stampede 4x4?

You didn't have it too tight. 1/8 -1/2 of a turn is about how much they should be loosened. Were the gears meshed correctly?
