Two words... Stretch it!
I used a small flat head screw driver and needlenose pliers. Just be careful. Dont stretch it any more than you have to.
If people cant get hep here, why have a forum?
To the op, The truck comes with a tool just for this job:

Its the tool at the top. It will help spread the plastic "ears" just enough for the u-joint to pop in. It is very easy with this tool.
